About Music Therapy

Music therapy is a process-oriented therapeutic modality in which a Board-Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) uses music to address a client’s functional goals within the context of a client-therapist relationship. Music therapy can address a wide variety of clinical needs within the social, cognitive, emotional, motor, and communication domains. Music therapists work with clients, their families, and other healthcare providers to create a customized treatment plan based on clients’ strengths, needs, and interests. Music therapists help clients work toward their goals using music as the essential component of treatment within a collaborative partnership.
